Second edition of guest blogger - Sayah Rowles July 3, 2015

Introducing the second edition in our series of guest bloggers: Sayah Rowles.

My name is Sayah Rowles and I am an Account Manager within the Wholesale side of the business. I have been working with St Andrews for 5 years and have just recently moved to Brisbane from Sydney to be closer to my family.

If we go back to where it all started, I was born and raised in Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea. My father went up to Moresby in the 60’s with the Army and decided to branch out like his two other brothers living up there and opened a BP Service Station. It was the 2nd largest Service Station in the Southern Hemisphere and I remember spending most Saturdays there with ‘Hipai’ the local who lived on top of the ice box - he had to climb a tree to get up to his make shift residence! I had a fantastic upbringing in Moresby all part of a large expat community who become your family. We all had boats and jet skis and every Sunday was a trip to Fisherman’s Island where you would see boats lined up for miles and everyone in the bath type water swimming with a polo on because it is just so hot up there!

I was sent to Boarding School in Brisbane when I was 12 years old and then spent many years after school in Brisbane going to University and landing my first job with Suncorp.
I got itchy feet to travel and decided to do the London stint where I spent two years of my life making amazing friends and travelling Europe. During my stay in London, my parents were still living in Port Moresby and Dad was granted an OBE by the Queen for doing good services to Papua New Guinea. They made the trip over and met the Queen, but unfortunately for me, they only extended it to one invitation which meant Mum went along and I missed out on any Royal encounter!

I met my husband at Running of the Bulls in Pamplona. What are the chances of living on the other side of the world and meeting an Aussie? We moved back to Sydney together and after 10 years of the busy paced lifestyle, we packed up and moved north.

We were recently married in Fiji and have a 2 ½ year old who keeps us very busy. Most of my weekends are spent either going to weddings (not a lie), catching up with friends and family or trying to fit something exciting in. I am always on the go and like to live life to the fullest!

I love being part of the St Andrew’s team – so many fun and interesting people. I hope you like my story...make sure you scroll down to see our beautiful daughter!
